 STONE SOUP'S JOHNNY CAKE CORNBREAD 

bake 350 

  • 3 cups cornmeal
  • 1- cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 pinches salt
  • 3 tbs melted shortening
  • 6 tbs maple syrup
  • 3 tsp. soda

 

Directions:  Add enough buttermilk to make a cake-like batter.  Bake in a greased 9x13 pan until browned and firm to the touch. 

 

Honey butter:

blend 1 cup softened butter with 1/2 cup honey
